Knowledge Centre Charging Framework

From the 1st August 2008 the Knowledge Centre introduced a new charging framework for some services. These charges are outlined below; different charges apply for different user groups. If you have any questions or feedback on these charges please contact us knowledge@charteredaccountants.com.au.

Article provision Provision of a print or electronic copy of an article or extract from a book. This includes material from Institute conferences and publications when this is not available from the website. The price includes postage (where required). The format of the copy is dependent on copyright licence provisions, however where possible material will be supplied electronically No charge $15 per article or extract
Self-service photocopying Customers may visit the Knowledge Centre and copy material from the collection on the photocopier provided. Copyright limits must still be adhered to and a copyright form completed No charge No charge
Interlibrary loan / document delivery Sourcing of a book or copy of a document from another library in Australia. Price includes postage (where required) $15 per book or article for standard service $15 per book or article for standard service
Lawpoint searches Searching ASIC information on shareholders, directors and bankruptcy listings $30 minimum charge, additional charges as incurred $50 minimum charge, additional charges as incurred
Knowledge Centre membership Available to those with no affiliation with the Institute. Allows the holder to access the same services as a member of the Institute, although different charges may apply. Not offered $200 per annum

*This category applies to members, candidates and affiliates of the Institute.

Who is eligible to use the Knowledge Centre?
  • Current Members and Candidates of the Institute residing or working in Australia: all members nationally are welcome to use our service, as are Candidates in the Chartered Accountants Program in Australia


  • Members and Candidates may visit us in person or phone/email requests to the Knowledge Centre team. They may borrow books and audio visual items at no charge, request photocopies from books or journals, or place a request to source items we don’t have in stock from other libraries*. They may also access subscription only services on the Knowledge Centre website using their user name and password to log in.

  • Australian Institute Members working overseas


  • Can enjoy the same services as members in Australia, with the exception of borrowing books. As the Institute is a member of the Global Accounting Alliance, Australian members working in any of the GAA countries may visit and borrow books from the local institute’s library.

  • Members from GAA member countries visiting or working in Australia


  • Members may visit us in person or phone/email requests to the Knowledge Centre team. They may borrow books and audio visual items at no charge, request photocopies from books or journals or place a request to source items we don’t have in stock from other libraries*. GAA members can request content from our Members’ only area of the website by contacting Knowledge Centre staff, but cannot access this directly.

  • Individual non-members


  • May search our online catalogue on the website and request the loan of books or audio visual items via another library.* They may also request photocopies of journal articles directly from the Knowledge Centre.*
*Charges will apply for these services.
