Accounting & Assurance News Today (ANT) 
ANT is emailed free to subscribers every Friday afternoon, providing a brief rundown on the week's developments in financial reporting and assurance. New standards, the issue of new exposure drafts and summaries of deliberations by the standard-setting bodies are all included, with links to the relevant websites for more information. The newsletter also includes a question and answer segment that has been generated from the contact we have had with members on our members' helpline. Previous editions of our ANT newsletter can be found here.

Charter and e-bulletins 
The ‘Technical Focus’ section of Charter includes two to three articles per month on topical financial reporting and auditing issues written by experts in the field. The Institute's Reporting and Assurance team is also responsible for a regular monthly column, ‘The Panel’, which highlights the most important developments that have featured in our ANT newsletter in the last month. The Institute also sends out bi-weekly e-bulletins to members which include references to significant financial reporting and auditing developments as appropriate. However if you have a specific interest in either financial reporting or auditing and assurance we recommend a free subscription to ANT as the best way to remain informed about the latest developments in this area. The Financial Reporting and Auditing & Assurance home page 
The Reporting and Assurance team maintains the Financial Reporting and Auditing & Assurance home pages which provide members with access to a wealth of technical material that may assist members with their financial reporting needs. Information in these sections includes:

  • the latest financial reporting and auditing news, including access to our ANT newsletter  
  • access to the electronic members handbook (including new releases not yet available in the printed and CD-ROM versions)  
  • summaries of current exposure drafts and copies of our draft and final submissions 
  • application guidance on the accounting and auditing standards including summaries and other support material including our published “questions and answers” which deal with common issues raised by members on our helpline  
  • references and links to other published material which members may find useful, for example, specimen financial statements

Submissions  
The Institute’s Reporting and Assurance team monitors the release of all new standards and exposure drafts and other pronouncements issued by standard setters, regulators and legislators which affect financial reporting and auditing. Summaries of their content are usually included in ANT and Charter as it comes to hand as well as being uploaded to the submissions section of our website. This section also contains our draft submissions (which allow member’s only access for feedback purposes) and final submissions once they have been lodged with the relevant authority.  
 
Corporate Reporting Discussion Group (CRDG) 
The Sydney office of the Institute hosts a discussion group, which meets bimonthly on Mondays. The event is free and is an opportunity for members to listen to a distinguished speaker on a current implementation topic as well as providing an open forum for members to ask questions. Future sessions will be publicised in ANT and on our dedicated Sydney CRDG webpage. 
 
Melbourne is also about to host its own CRDG. Those members interested in attending a Melbourne CRDG should register by following the instructions on our dedicated Melbourne CRDG webpage. 
 
Training & Development 
ANT each week contains a summary of the Institute’s major training and development courses in the financial reporting and auditing arena. For more information visit the training & development section of our website.  
 
Emerging issues 
The team is involved in assisting in the formulation of the Institute’s responses on a range of emerging financial reporting and assurance issues and communicating these to members.
